Tune Guide is a program witch calculates gain and integration time needed to tune industrial controllers. The tuning methods this program uses are optimized for process plants, such as the pulp and paper industri. Both the environment and the companys have a lot to gain if as many control loops as possible are working at peak performance. Studies have shown that about 50% of the control loops in a average plant are working less well.
Tune Guide give suggestions of suitable PI parameters. With the following methods: AMIGO, AMIGO KLT, Lambdatune, Cohen-Coon and off course Ziegler-Nichols. The AMIGO method is quite new and is develloped in the Department of Automatic Control, Lund, Sweden. The AMIGO method are very powefull and give results within the same range as some comercial tuning tools. Tune Guide will also suggest filter timeconstant for the transmitter. This will reduce the risk of aliasing or overdamping of the signal from the field transmitter.
All the user have to do is to perform a step response experiment, in order to obtain the parameters Kp (Process gain), T (Time constant), and L (Deadtime), witch is enough to let the program make a simple model of the process. If you donīt know how to calculate Kp, T and L, download the help file below. The help file allso describes how to get the most out of the program. And a example how to test a valve for hysteries and sticktion.
New function from ver 3.0 Save loops to file, search for loops by tag number and the process parameters Kp, T, and L + private notes are displayed. i.e No more discussions why the current parameters were selected.
In order to use the "find" function the file Mscomctl.ocx must be installed in "C:/Windows/System" directory. If your computer is missing the file Click here to download it.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE The saved loops are stored in the file called loopsV3.ini The file are created in the same directory as Tune Guide is located when the first loop are saved. If you change directory or computer, the file must be moved as well. This file contains all the saved loops.
Download A Free Copy of Tune Guide unlimited version 4.0
In order to view the help file from Tune Guide the file must be installed in the same directory as the program.
Version 4.0 is the final version of Tune Guide, previous versions was time limited. This copy have no limitations.
