Rottnest Island

Situated 19 km off the coast, Rottnest Island was established as a prison for Aborigines from the mainland in 1838. The island has several salt lakes which due to a bacteria have a slightly pink tone.

Quokka -
the "rat" that gave the island its name.

A small wallaby endemic to WA,
said to exist in thousands on "Rotto".
I only saw this one...

At last I reached the sea again and time to go swimming. But the sun had got tired of waiting for me.
