| Alchemy was a great improvement to the precursor album Facing
The Animal. The album contains more instrumentals and includes some
speedy songs like Wield My Sword and Hangar 18, Area 51,
which is not only speedy but also with refrains easy to remember and sing
along with.
Yngwie has put in a more heavy sound on this album, such as on the songs Leonardo, Legion Of The Damned and Voodoo Nights. The album ends with the Asylum trilogy, which includes the three parts - Asylum, Sky Euphoria and Quantum Leap. All three are awesome and while Sky Euphoria goes back to the classical sound with strings and acoustic guitar Quantum Leap is the most different and exciting work of Yngwie I have ever heard. This instrumental features mainly keyboards and drums, while Yngwie's heavy guitar completes it all in the background.
