Socialism....... -
A strong state. We need a strong state that can take care of its
citizens. We've got weak people around us who need help. Disabled people,
sick people, older people and children that we as a modern and humanistic
society has an obligation to take care of and give a life as good as absolutely
possible.
We need a strong state
to give everybody the same possibilities to things like education and medical
care.
- A society where every person has the same value. Who can judge how much less a cleaning lady is worth compared to a doctor? What doctor can cure a patient if the operation room is filthy and filled with bacteria?
- Taxes. It's an easy equation: if many pays to the mutual heap the less every single person has to pay. If we need medical care and have to pay for it ourselves the amount we have to give out will hurt our personal budget more than the little sum we can pay each month. We also get a society that don't let the weak people stand aside because of lack of finance, and that is for me a definite matter of course.
-International solidarity and non racism.
- In the long round: A
less economy based society. Humanity is something incredible. We
can do so many things. We have the intellectual capability to cure illness
or to at least find the cure for them, we can build things and invent
things and be creative and fantastic. If a person can speak through a computer,
why not give him that possibility? If we want to make a trip around the
world and there are boats and airplanes that can take us there, why not
go? Because the pilots won't fly if they don't get paid?
Lots of people would like
to do it because of the fun. And if we want our environment clean and noone
wants to do it we have to do it together. We can't put prices on people's
needs and dreams.
That's socialism to me.
Still
waiting for Simon to send that soundfile with Internationalen. ;o)
