Adding another Jabber user into your Roster (contact list) is simple.
Start by pressing the New User button in your Roster window.
You need to know the other users, so called, Jabber user id (Jid).
It has the same form as an email address. You may also enter a nick
name, or/and create a group for this user in the roster.
Users are added by a mutual subscription mechanism. You start by
subscribing to another user, which we are going to do here, and the
other user accepts or denies your subscription, and usually you'll
get a subscription request from the other user that you accept or
denies.
Press the Add button.
When this subscription is sent off, and before the other user has
answered, it is placed in the Subscription Pending section in the
Roster.
If the other user is friendly enough to subscribe to your presence
as well, you'll get a request like this. Just press the Accept button.
The final state is shown here. The user you have added is either
Online or Offline.
