TONERS

The toning must be done in artificial light as the image is sensitive of ultraviolet light (daylight) after bleaching. Sulphur toning must be done far from photographic materials as the sulphuretted hydrogen emerging during the process is harmful for them as well as for people.



COPPERTONING

After toning rinse and then tone in the second toning bath. After the final rinsing wipe carefully with moist cotton. The dry photos will take a darker tone if the are pressed in a mounting press at 70 deg. Celsius.


Toningbath
Copper Sulphate 10% 20 ml
Potassium Citrate 10% 140 ml
Potassiumferricyanide 10% 5 ml
Water 100 ml

Add the Copper Sulphatesolution to the Potassium Citratesolution, after that the Potassium Ferricyanide solution. The working solution does not last long.

Second Toningbath


 
Copper Sulphate 50 g
Sodium Chloride 20 g
Hydrochloric Acid conc. 10 ml

This solution can be kept.
 

 IRONTONING

After the toning rinse until the yellow stain disappers, then fix and rinse again. Before drying carefully wipe with moist cotton.


Kraft&Steudel a

I

Ammonium-iron(III) Citrate 10 g

II

Potassium Ferricyanide 10 g

III

Citric Acid 50 g

Immidiatly before use, mix 50ml I + 50ml II + 10ml III + 100ml water. The solution does not last long. This formula gives greenish-blue tones.
 

Kraft&Steudel b
I

Ammonium-iron(III) Sulphate 100 g
Hydrochloric Acid conc. 10 ml

II

Potassium Ferricyanide 10 g

Immidiatly before use, mix 10ml I + 20ml II + 200ml water+ 10ml concentrated Hydrochloric Acid. The solution does not last long. This formula gives cold blue tones.

Fixing Solution

Sodium Thiosulphate 5 g
Potassium Disulphite 25 g

SULPHURTONING

After bleaching, rinse the paper carefully and then tone it. After the last rinsing, wipe the paper with moist cotton
