In Sweden The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
was banned for more than 15 years before it was re-released whit a few cuts.
It's still banned in UK and Germany.
Marilyn Burns, whose character was chased
by Leatherface through the undergrowth actually cut herself on the branches
quite badly, so a lot of the blood on her body and clothes is real.
The original title for the film was
"Headcheese"
The Art director, Robert A. Burns used
a huge numbers of animal bones and remains for the oppressing decoration
of the house. Unfortunately, it was a extremely hot summer this year and
the resulting stench was close to unbearable.
The actor Terri McMinn was hung up on
a meat hook was actually held up by a nylon cord that went between her legs,
causing a great deal of pain.
The character "Leatherface"
is loosely based on massmurder Ed Gein.
In the UK Gunnar Hansen's movie "Hollywood
Chainsaw Hookers" wasn't aloud to use the word chainsaw in the title.
But the Filmcompany draw a chainsaw between the two words, that was OK.
In TCM, Leatherface wears three masks.
He sports the "Killing Mask" from his first appearance till the
Cook's arrival with Sally, when he wears the "Old Lady" mask.
From the dinner scene till the end, Leatherface wears the "Pretty Woman"
mask, which is heavily made up.
In one scen Leatherface getting ready for dinner.
He digs in a bucket full of human skin mask and decides to keep the one
he has on now. He grabs a mirror and powder his face and puts on a coulorfull
lipstick, but the scen was never used in the movie.
